Biography
Gustav Diessl (30 December 1899 – 20 March 1948) was an Austrian stage and film actor. Born in Vienna, he trained in art and graphic design before turning to acting. He made his film debut in 1921 and worked extensively in German cinema during the silent era and beyond.
Diessl is known for his role as Jack the Ripper in G. W. Pabst’s Pandora’s Box (1929). Other notable credits include The White Hell of Pitz Palu (1929), Westfront 1918 (1930) and The Testament of Dr. Mabuse (1933). He also appeared in Italian films and continued working in German productions through the 1940s.
