Biography
Guy Maddin is a Canadian film director, screenwriter, cinematographer and editor. He was born on 28 February 1956 in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
Maddin’s second feature, Archangel (1990), was directed, co-written with George Toles and edited by him. The film is set during the final stages of the First World War and the Bolshevik Revolution in northern Russia.
His other films include Tales from the Gimli Hospital (1988), The Saddest Music in the World (2003), My Winnipeg (2008) and The Forbidden Room (2015). He was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2012.
