Biography
Guy Trosper was an American screenwriter. Born in Lander, Wyoming, on 27 March 1911, he began his film career as a reader for Samuel Goldwyn before becoming a screenwriter in 1941.
He wrote the screenplays for The Stratton Story (1949), Devil's Doorway (1950), The Pride of St. Louis (1952), Jailhouse Rock (1957), One-Eyed Jacks (1961), Birdman of Alcatraz (1962, which he also produced) and The Spy Who Came In from the Cold (1965). Trosper received an Academy Award nomination for Best Story for The Pride of St. Louis and, posthumously, shared an Edgar Award for Best Motion Picture Screenplay for The Spy Who Came In from the Cold. He died on 19 December 1963.
