Biography
György Fehér (12 February 1939 – 15 July 2002) was a Hungarian film director, screenwriter and producer. He graduated from the Academy of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest in 1972, majoring in directing and cinematography, and worked extensively in Hungarian television as a director and cinematographer before making feature films.
His first feature, Twilight (Szürkület, 1990), which he also wrote, won a special prize at the Hungarian Film Festival and awards at festivals including Locarno. He directed Passion (Szenvedély, 1998), which received multiple prizes at the Hungarian Film Festival. Fehér produced Béla Tarr’s Satantango (1994) and contributed additional dialogue to Werckmeister Harmonies (2000).
