Biography
Gyula Pauer was a Hungarian actor, production designer and costume designer. Born in Budapest in 1941, he worked extensively in Hungarian cinema, particularly with director Béla Tarr.
He designed costumes for Satantango (1994) and appeared in several Tarr films, including Damnation (1988) as Willarsky, Twilight (1990) as Házaló, Werckmeister Harmonies (2000) as Mr Hagelmayer and The Man from London (2008) as Kocsmáros. He also contributed production design and art direction to other features such as Sose halunk meg (1993).
Pauer died in Budapest in 2012. He was additionally known as a sculptor.
