Biography
Hal Roach was an American film and television producer, director and writer. He produced Sons of the Desert (1933) and was credited as writer on the same film.
Roach began working in Hollywood in the 1910s as an extra before producing short comedies. He is known for producing the Laurel and Hardy series, the Our Gang shorts (1922–1938) and films including Safety Last! (1923), The Music Box (1932) and Way Out West (1937).
Later in his career Roach moved into television production. He received three Academy Awards for his work in short subjects.
