Biography
Hamid Djavadan is an Iranian-born actor and theatre practitioner. He began his career in 1976 with the Iranian Theatre and the Living Theatre in the United States. He trained in Canada, studying commedia dell'arte, mask work, Balinese martial arts, dance, makeup and singing, and later worked in France at the Cartoucherie de Vincennes and with other companies.
Since 1983 he has directed numerous plays and performed works by authors including Shakespeare, Marlowe, Marivaux, Giraudoux, Lorca and Iranian writers such as Hedayat and Saedi, as well as ancient texts including the Epic of Gilgamesh and the Shahnameh. He has also acted in films including The Patience Stone (2012), As Above, So Below (2014) and Under the Shadow (2016).
