Biography
Hanaa Abdel Fattah (also credited as Mohamed Hanaa Abdel Fattah Metwaly) was an Egyptian actor, theatre director and cultural mediator. He began his career as a child performer in radio at the age of eight and appeared in films including El-Fetewa (1957) and Cairo Station (1958).
After a period away from acting he returned in the early 2000s, with roles in The Embassy in the Building (2005), Hassan and Marcus (2008) and the international film Fair Game (2010). He also directed for the stage, taught at the Higher Institute of Theatrical Arts in Cairo and translated Polish literature into Arabic. He received awards from both Egyptian and Polish cultural institutions.
Abdel Fattah died in Cairo on 19 October 2012.
