Biography
Hanna Aqvilin is a Swedish documentary producer, director and cinematographer. She studied journalism and media production at Linnaeus University and completed an MA at London College of Communication. She previously worked as a reporter and camera operator for Swedish broadcaster SVT and as a producer at the British company Archer’s Mark.
Aqvilin produced and shot the feature documentary Black Box Diaries (2024) with Shiori Itō, having begun the project in 2017. The film premiered at Sundance and received Oscar and BAFTA nominations for Best Documentary. Her other producer credits include Being a Human Person (2020) and Hold Your Breath: The Ice Dive (2022). She has also directed short documentaries, including Fay Presto: The Queen of Close Up (2017).
