Biography
Hanna Bergholm is a Finnish film director and screenwriter. She graduated in 2009 from the University of Art and Design Helsinki with an MA in Film Directing and was selected for the Berlinale Talent Campus in 2012.
Bergholm is best known for her debut feature Hatching (2022), a psychological horror film that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival, and her second feature Nightborn (2026), which she directed and co-wrote. The latter, her first English-language film, premiered in competition at the 76th Berlin International Film Festival.
Earlier in her career she directed several internationally screened short films, including Puppet Master (2018), Varjot and Gorilla, as well as the children's television series Reetta ja Ronja. She is a member of the European Film Academy.
