Biography
Hans Albers (also credited as Hans Philipp August Albers) was a German actor and singer. Born in Hamburg in 1891, he began his career in theatre and appeared in over one hundred silent films before achieving prominence with the advent of sound cinema.
He played Mazeppa in The Blue Angel (1930). Albers starred in numerous popular German films of the 1930s to 1950s, including The Man Who Was Sherlock Holmes (1937) and Münchhausen (1943) as Baron Münchhausen. He often worked with Heinz Rühmann and maintained a long-term partnership with actress Hansi Burg until his death in 1960.
