Biography
Hans Burmann is a German-born Spanish cinematographer. Born on 9 August 1937 in Bad Honnef, Germany, he is the son of art director Sigfrido Burmann and began working in film in 1953, progressing from camera assistant to director of photography by 1970.
He has photographed numerous Spanish films, including several directed by Mario Camus such as The Beehive (1982) and The Holy Innocents (1984). Burmann collaborated with Alejandro Amenábar on Thesis (1996) and Open Your Eyes (1997), and later worked on The Blind Sunflowers (2008). He received Goya Award nominations for best cinematography for The Holy Innocents, The King Amazes, La marrana and The Blind Sunflowers.
