Biography
Harold Pinter was a British playwright, screenwriter, director and actor. Born on 10 October 1930 in Hackney, London, he died on 24 December 2008.
He wrote the screenplay for The Servant (1963), directed by Joseph Losey, and appeared in the film as a society man in a restaurant scene. Other screenplays include Accident (1967), The Go-Between (1971), The French Lieutenant's Woman (1981), The Handmaid's Tale (1990) and Sleuth (2007). He also adapted several of his own plays for the screen.
Pinter received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2005. His plays include The Birthday Party (1957), The Homecoming (1964) and Betrayal (1978).
