Biography
Harry Lighton is a British film director and screenwriter. He studied literature at the University of Oxford and began making short films there. His short film Wren Boys (2017) received a nomination for Best British Short Film at the BAFTAs.
Lighton’s feature debut Pillion (2025), which he also wrote, is an adaptation of Adam Mars-Jones’s novel Box Hill. It premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Best Screenplay award. The film stars Harry Melling and Alexander Skarsgård. He has collaborated with director Oliver Hermanus, serving as a director’s assistant on Living and writing the screenplay for an upcoming biopic of Alexander McQueen.
