Biography
Henning Kristiansen (2 July 1927 – 2 November 2006) was a Danish cinematographer and film director. He began his career as a camera trainee at Palladium Film in 1946, remaining there until 1951, before joining Nordisk Film in 1952. He worked as director of photography there from 1953 to 1960 and subsequently as a freelancer.
Over a career spanning more than fifty years, Kristiansen served as cinematographer on numerous Danish films, including Hunger (1966), two Olsen Gang entries (The Olsen Gang Sees Red, 1976, among others), and Babette's Feast (1987). He received a Bodil Honorary Award in 1964 and a BAFTA nomination for Best Cinematography for Babette's Feast. He also co-directed the youth drama Me and Charly (1978), which won a Bodil for Best Film. Kristiansen taught at the National Film School of Denmark from 1980 to 1987 and chaired the Danish Association of Cinematographers from 1992 to 1997.
