Biography
Henning Lohner is a German-American composer and filmmaker. Born on 17 July 1961 in Bremen, Germany, he was raised near Palo Alto, California. He studied jazz improvisation and film scoring at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and graduated with an MA in musicology, art history and Romanic languages from Frankfurt University in 1987. He trained with Iannis Xenakis and served as assistant to Karlheinz Stockhausen.
Lohner has composed or arranged music for films including The Ring Two (2005), Spanglish (2004), In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2007), BloodRayne (2006), Hellraiser: Deader (2005), Santa's Slay (2005), Timber Falls (2007), Night Train (2009), Mimic: Sentinel (2003) and Shuttle (2008). He has worked as a long-standing member of Hans Zimmer's Remote Control Productions.
He has also directed and produced documentaries and art films, and created the media art project Active Images. Lohner is a member of the European Film Academy and the Deutsche Filmakademie.
