Biography
Henry Beckman (26 November 1921 – 17 June 2008) was a Canadian stage, film and television actor. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he served in the Canadian Army during the Second World War, including the D-Day landings at Juno Beach, before beginning his career in the early 1950s.
Beckman appeared in well over 100 productions. His film credits include Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961), Marnie (1964) as the First Detective, The Brood (1979) and Blood & Guts (1978). On television he had recurring roles in Peyton Place, McHale's Navy, I'm Dickens, He's Fenster and Here Come the Brides, and guest appearances on The X-Files, The Twilight Zone, Perry Mason and Columbo. He won two Canadian Film Awards for Best Supporting Actor.
He performed on Broadway and, with his first wife, actress Cheryl Maxwell, founded the Dukes Oak Theater in Cooperstown, New York. He later married Hillary Beckman and wrote books on independent filmmaking.
