Biography
Henry Vars (born Henryk Warszawski; 29 December 1902 – 1 September 1977) was a Polish-American composer, arranger and conductor. Known in Poland as Henryk Wars, he composed scores and songs for around fifty films during the interwar period. He studied composition at the Warsaw Conservatory under Roman Statkowski and Emil Młynarski, graduating in 1925.
Vars emigrated to the United States in 1947. In Hollywood he contributed music to films including The Big Heat (1953), Seven Men from Now (1956) and Flipper (1963), as well as writing popular songs recorded by artists such as Doris Day and Brenda Lee.
