Biography
Hikari (born Mitsuyo Miyazaki, also credited as Kiyoka Miyazaki or 宮崎光代) is a Japanese filmmaker who works as a director, writer and producer. Born in Osaka, she moved to the United States at the age of 17. She earned a BSc from Southern Utah University in 1999 and an MFA in Film and Television Production from the USC School of Cinematic Arts in 2011.
Her feature debut 37 Seconds (2019), which she wrote, directed and produced, premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Panorama Audience Award. She directed episodes of the series Tokyo Vice (2022) and BEEF (2023). Hikari co-wrote (with Stephen Blahut), directed and produced the 2025 film Rental Family.
