Biography
Hillard (Hilly) Elkins (1929–2010) was an American theatre and film producer. He began his career in the mail room at the William Morris Agency in New York, rising to head its theatrical department before serving in the US Army during the Korean War. In 1953 he established his own management company, representing clients including Steve McQueen, Sammy Davis Jr., James Coburn and Mel Brooks.
Elkins turned to producing with the 1962 Broadway play Come on Strong. His subsequent credits included the musical Golden Boy (1964), the revue Oh! Calcutta! (1969) and The Rothschilds (1970). His film productions were Alice's Restaurant (1969), A New Leaf (1971), a screen version of Oh! Calcutta! (1972), A Doll's House (1973) and Richard Pryor: Live in Concert (1979). He also produced several television documentaries.
Elkins was married to actress Claire Bloom from 1969 to 1972. He died of a heart attack in Los Angeles on 1 December 2010.
