Biography
Hisaya Itô (also credited as Hisaya Ito) was a Japanese actor. Born on 7 August 1924 in Kobe, he died in 2005. He graduated from Hosei University and initially managed an electronics store before beginning his acting career with Toei Company in 1954. He joined Toho Studios in 1957 and appeared in numerous tokusatsu and kaiju films.
Itô is known for supporting roles in Toho science-fiction productions, including Captain Seki in The Mysterians (1957), Shindo in Atragon (1963), Chief Assassin Malmess in Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster (1964), the Osaka Police Sergeant in Frankenstein Conquers the World (1965), Chief Izumida in The War of the Gargantuas (1966), a Red Bamboo scientist in Ebirah, Horror of the Deep (1966), and Major Tada in Destroy All Monsters (1968). He also appeared in television series such as Ultra Q (1966) and Ultraman (1966–1967). After Toho's contract system ended around 1970, he focused on television work before retiring from the industry.
