Biography
Hossein Alizadeh is an Iranian composer, musician and performer on the tar and setar. Born in Tehran in 1951, he studied composition and performance at the University of Tehran and later composition and musicology at the University of Berlin.
He has composed film scores including Gabbeh (1996), A Time for Drunken Horses (2000) and Turtles Can Fly (2006). Alizadeh founded the Aref Ensemble, performed with the Shayda Ensemble and has received Grammy nominations for his recordings.
