Biography
Humbert Balsan was a French film producer. He began his career in cinema as an actor, appearing in small roles including as Michel in Maurice Pialat's Loulou (1980). He later moved into production, founding Ognon Pictures and working on more than sixty films.
Balsan produced films by directors including Youssef Chahine, Sandrine Veysset and Claire Denis. He served as president of the European Film Academy and held positions with Unifrance and the Cinémathèque française. He was born on 21 August 1954 in Arcachon and died on 10 February 2005 in Paris.
