Biography
Ian John is a film editor and documentary maker. Born in Painswick, England, he trained as an editor with the BBC in London before relocating to New Zealand in late 1971.
He worked at Pacific Films in Wellington on the documentary series Tangata Whenua (1974). As a freelance editor he cut the New Zealand features Sleeping Dogs (1977) and Utu (1983), as well as The Scarecrow (1982) and Leave All Fair (1985).
John has also directed and produced television documentaries and informational films on subjects including sport, tourism and medical topics.
