Biography
Igo Kantor was an Austrian-born American film producer, post-production executive and music supervisor. Born in Vienna in 1930, he was raised in Lisbon, Portugal, where he received a high school and music education. He moved to the United States in 1948, studied at UCLA and became a US citizen in 1952.
Kantor began his career in editing and music supervision at Columbia Studios and its Screen Gems subsidiary. In the mid-1960s he founded the post-production company Synchrofilm, where he supervised work on series including The Monkees and films such as Easy Rider (1969) and Five Easy Pieces (1970). He later produced low-budget features including Kingdom of the Spiders (1977), The Dark (1979) and Hardly Working (1980). His music credits include supervision or composition on Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! (1965), Hang 'em High (1968), Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970) and The Kentucky Fried Movie (1977). Kantor died in 2019.
