Biography
Irma Raush, also credited as Irina Tarkovskaya and Irma Yakovlevna Raush, is a Russian actress and film director. She began studying directing at the State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) under Mikhail Romm in 1954.
She appeared in early films directed by Andrei Tarkovsky, to whom she was married from 1957 until their divorce in 1970, playing Ivan's mother in Ivan's Childhood (1962) and the holy fool Durochka in Andrei Rublev (1966). For the latter role she was awarded the Étoile de Cristal for best foreign actress in 1970. From 1970 she worked as a director at the Gorky Film Studio, making films for children, and later wrote children's books.
