Biography
Irvin Shrewsbury Cobb (23 June 1876 – 11 March 1944) was an American author, humorist, editor and columnist. Born in Paducah, Kentucky, he moved to New York in 1904 and wrote for the New York World.
Cobb wrote more than sixty books and three hundred short stories. His Judge Priest stories were adapted for the 1934 film Judge Priest, on which he received a writing credit, and for the 1953 film The Sun Shines Bright. He also acted in ten films between 1932 and 1938 and hosted the 7th Academy Awards in 1935.
