Biography
Jack Ackerman was an American actor, songwriter and composer. He appeared as Jack in John Cassavetes' Shadows (1960) and composed the music and served as musical director for Faces (1968). He also worked as musical director on Husbands (1970) and acted in other Cassavetes films including Machine Gun McCain (1969) and The Killing of a Chinese Bookie (1976).
Ackerman wrote songs for several films, including title songs for Wild Harvest (1962) and Tell Me in the Sunlight (1965). He contributed to the Broadway production of The Ziegfeld Follies and had a songwriting partnership with Billy Preston. His song "Lasting Love", co-written with Hunt Stevens, was a hit for Sal Mineo in 1957.
Born on 20 September 1931 in New Jersey, Ackerman died on 27 April 1991 in Los Angeles.
