Biography
Jack Goode, also credited early in his career as Jack Good, was an American actor and musical comedy performer. Born Irwin Thomas Whittridge on 2 June 1908 in Columbus, Ohio, he began in vaudeville before appearing on Broadway in productions including Of Thee I Sing (1933), Face the Music, The Desert Song (1946) and a revival of Sally (1948), and later replaced in the original Hello, Dolly! (1964).
In film he had uncredited roles as a dancer in the Fred Astaire–Ginger Rogers musicals Flying Down to Rio (1933), Top Hat (1935) and Swing Time (1936), and appeared in shorts such as The Knife of the Party (1934, as Jack Good) and Hollywood Party (1937). His later television work included guest roles in The Andy Griffith Show (1960s), Hogan's Heroes (1965), The Monkees (1966) and That Girl. He died on 24 June 1971 in New York City.
