Biography
Jackie Budin is a costume designer of English origin who has worked primarily in French cinema since the late 1970s. She trained in art history and fashion drawing in Paris and began her career in magazines and advertising before moving into film.
She is noted for her long collaboration with director Alain Resnais, designing costumes for seven of his films, including Smoking/No Smoking (1993), Same Old Song (1997), Private Fears in Public Places (2006), Wild Grass (2009) and Life of Riley (2014). Other credits include Bitter Moon (1992) for Roman Polanski, The Taste of Others (2000) and Look at Me (2004) for Agnès Jaoui, and the anchoring films Highlander III: The Sorcerer (1994) and What Time Is It There? (2001). She has also worked in television, including episodes of The New Avengers (1977) and Clara Sheller (2005).
Budin won the César Award for Best Costumes in 2004 for Not on the Lips (2003).
