Biography
Jacqueline Victoire Brookes was an American actress who worked in film, television and stage. She was born on 24 July 1930 in Montclair, New Jersey, and died on 26 April 2013 in Manhattan, New York.
She graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London on a Fulbright Scholarship. Brookes was best known for her stage work, including roles in Shakespeare productions and an Obie Award-winning performance in Six Characters in Search of an Author (1963). She originated the role of Norma Henshaw in The Diviners on Broadway in 1980 and taught acting at the Circle in the Square Theatre School from 1974 until her death.
Her film and television credits include Commissioner Brumford in The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear (1991), Admiral Brand in Star Trek: The Next Generation (1992), Alice Davenport in The Good Son (1993), and roles in Sea of Love (1989), The Entity (1982) and Law & Order (1990).
