Biography
Jacques Prévert (4 February 1900 – 11 April 1977) was a French poet and screenwriter. He was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine, France.
Prévert wrote screenplays for several films directed by Marcel Carné that formed part of the poetic realist movement, including Port of Shadows (1938), Daybreak (1939) and Children of Paradise (1945). He also collaborated on The King and the Mockingbird (1980) with Paul Grimault. His poetry collections, such as Paroles (1946), remain popular in French-speaking schools.
