Biography
Jaina Lee Ortiz (born Jessica Ortiz) is an American actress and dancer. She was born on 20 November 1986 in Fort Ord, California, and raised in the Bronx, New York. She began training in salsa and mambo dance at the age of nine, later becoming a professional instructor and performer who travelled internationally. She studied acting for two years at the Maggie Flanigan Studio in New York, learning the Meisner technique.
Ortiz first gained attention as a contestant on the VH1 reality series Scream Queens in 2010. Her breakthrough came with the lead role of Detective Annalise Villa in the Fox series Rosewood (2015–2017). She starred as Andy Herrera in the ABC series Station 19 (2018–2024) and appeared in crossover episodes of Grey's Anatomy. Film credits include Girls Trip (2017), Righteous Thieves (2023) and The Long Game (2024). She plays Emi Ochoa in the ABC series R.J. Decker (2026) and is cast in the film Ghost Soldier (2026).
