Biography
James R. Silke, also credited as Jim Silke, was an American graphic designer, screenwriter and costume designer. Born in Los Angeles in 1931, he began his career in graphic design and album artwork, winning a Grammy Award in 1962 for the cover of Judy at Carnegie Hall. He later worked in film, serving as costume designer on Sam Peckinpah's The Wild Bunch (1969).
As a screenwriter he contributed to several 1980s action and adventure films, including Revenge of the Ninja (1983), Ninja III: The Domination (1984), Sahara (1983), King Solomon's Mines (1985) and The Barbarians (1987). Silke also wrote the Frank Frazetta's Death Dealer series of novels and created the comic series Rascals in Paradise (1994). He died in 2025.
