Biography
James Roday Rodriguez (born James David Rodriguez) is an American actor, director and screenwriter. Born on 4 April 1976 in San Antonio, Texas, he studied at New York University’s Experimental Theatre Wing, where he earned a BFA.
He is best known for playing Shawn Spencer in the USA Network series Psych (2006–2014) and its subsequent films, for which he also wrote and directed episodes. He later starred as Gary Mendez in the ABC series A Million Little Things (2018–2023).
Rodriguez has directed episodes of series including The Resident, The Crossover and High Potential (2024–). His feature directorial debut was the 2015 film Gravy, which he co-wrote with Todd Harthan; he also directed and co-wrote the 2019 anthology film Treehouse.
