Biography
Jan Gunnar Røise is a Norwegian actor born on 24 September 1975 in Eidsvoll. He trained at Statens teaterhøgskole (now part of the Oslo National Academy of the Arts), graduating in 2000, and joined the National Theatre the same year, where he has appeared in numerous productions.
His film roles include Gunnar in The Tunnel (2019), Olav in The Thing (2011), Jappe in In Order of Disappearance (2014) and the chimney sweeper in Sex (2024). He has also appeared in Lilyhammer, What Will People Say, The Lion Woman, Kitchen Stories and A Somewhat Gentle Man. Røise won the Amandaprisen for best actor for his performances in Barn (2019) and Sex (2024).
