Biography
Jan Klusák (born Jan Porges, 18 April 1934) is a Czech composer and occasional actor. He studied composition at the Prague Music Academy from 1953 to 1957 under Jaroslav Řídký and Pavel Bořkovec, later working as a freelance composer of concert, film, television and incidental music.
Klusák has composed scores for numerous films, including The Cry (1963), Martyrs of Love (1966), Late August at the Hotel Ozone (1966) and the animated short Dimensions of Dialogue (1983). He has also appeared as an actor in films such as Daisies (1966), A Report on the Party and the Guests (1966) and Valerie and Her Week of Wonders (1970). In 1995 he received the Classic Award for his compositions, notably his String Quartet No. 5.
