Biography
Jane Hoffman was an American actress. Born Jane Ruth Hoffman on 24 July 1911 in Seattle, Washington, she died on 26 July 2004 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California.
She appeared in numerous films and television series, including as Muriel Hogenson in batteries not included (1987), Grandma in Deconstructing Harry (1997), Mrs Baxter in In & Out (1997), and roles in The Sentinel (1977), The Day of the Locust (1975) and episodes of Law & Order and Kojak.
Hoffman had a long stage career, performing in more than twenty Broadway productions from the 1940s to the 1990s. She originated roles in Edward Albee plays including The Sandbox and The American Dream, and was a founding member of the Actors Studio. She was the mother of actor Sam McMurray.
