Biography
Jane Russell was an American actress, model and singer. Born Ernestine Jane Geraldine Russell on 21 June 1921 in Bemidji, Minnesota, she died on 28 February 2011.
She made her screen debut as Rio McDonald in The Outlaw (1943). Russell played Calamity Jane opposite Bob Hope in The Paleface (1948). Other credits include Dorothy Shaw in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953), Nella Turner in The Tall Men (1955) and roles in His Kind of Woman (1951) and Macao (1952). She also appeared in the television series Hunter (1984).
Russell received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 1955 she founded the World Adoption International Fund.
