Biography
Jason Kim, also credited as Kim Joo-hwan or 김주환, is a South Korean film director and screenwriter. He studied international politics at Georgetown University in the United States and served for three years as an interpreter in the Republic of Korea Air Force before working in the promotion and film investment departments at Showbox.
He began making films in his spare time, directing the youth dramas Goodbye My Smile (2010) and Koala (2013). After leaving his job to pursue filmmaking full time, he spent three years developing the script for his mainstream debut Midnight Runners (2017). Subsequent features include The Divine Fury (2019) and Officer Black Belt (2024).
Kim wrote and directed the Netflix action series Bloodhounds (2023), for which he is also credited as creator and screenwriter. A second season followed in 2026.
