Biography
Javier Ambrossi is a Spanish director, screenwriter, producer and actor. He works primarily with Javier Calvo as the duo Los Javis. He was born on 24 June 1984 in Madrid and studied journalism at the Complutense University of Madrid and dramaturgy at the Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático.
Ambrossi and Calvo wrote and directed the stage play La llamada and its 2017 film adaptation. Their television work includes the series Paquita Salas (2016), Veneno (2020), Cardo (2021) and La Mesías (2023). They directed, wrote and produced the 2026 film La bola negra, for which they shared the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Director.
Ambrossi’s sister is the actress Macarena García. He and Calvo were partners from 2010 until their separation in 2025.
