Biography
Javier Calvo, also credited as Francisco Javier Calvo Guirao and part of the duo Los Javis, is a Spanish film and television director, screenwriter and producer. Born on 21 January 1991 in Murcia, he began his career as an actor before transitioning to directing and writing.
With frequent collaborator Javier Ambrossi, Calvo created and directed the stage musical La llamada, which they adapted into a 2017 feature film. The pair went on to write and direct the series Paquita Salas (2016–), Veneno (2020–2023) and La Mesías (2023). Calvo and Ambrossi co-directed, co-wrote and produced the 2026 film La bola negra, for which they shared the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Director.
