Biography
Jean Becker is a French film director and screenwriter. Born in Paris on 10 May 1933, he is the son of director Jacques Becker and brother of cinematographer Étienne Becker.
He began his career as an assistant director on his father's films, including Touchez pas au Grisbi (1954) and Le Trou (1960), on which he also appeared uncredited as an actor. He made his directorial debut with A Man Named Rocca (1961) and has since directed numerous features, among them One Deadly Summer (1983), The Children of the Marshland (1999), Conversations with My Gardener (2007) and My Afternoons with Margueritte (2010). In 2009 he was made a Commandeur of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
