Biography
Jean Debucourt (born Jean-Étienne Pelisse) was a French stage and film actor. Born in Paris on 19 January 1894, he appeared in more than 100 films between 1920 and his death on 22 March 1958 in Montrouge.
He trained at the Paris Conservatoire and performed at the Odéon before joining the Comédie-Française in 1936, becoming a sociétaire the following year. He remained active in theatre while building a substantial screen career, often in supporting roles.
Debucourt is remembered for parts including Sir Roderick Usher in The Fall of the House of Usher (1928), Monsieur Rémy in The Earrings of Madame de... (1953), and Camille Guimard in Maigret Sets a Trap (1958), as well as voice work such as the historian in Fan-Fan the Tulip (1952).
