Biography
Jean-Michel Cousteau is a French oceanographic explorer, environmentalist, educator and film producer and director. Born on 6 May 1938 in Toulon, he is the son of Jacques Cousteau. He joined his father’s expeditions from an early age and later worked with the Cousteau Society for nearly twenty years.
In 1999 he founded the Ocean Futures Society, of which he is president. He has produced more than seventy films and documentaries on marine environments and conservation, including appearances in Coral Reef Adventure (2003) and archive footage in Becoming Cousteau (2021). He has also directed or executive-produced series such as Ocean Adventures (2006) and Wonders of the Sea (2017).
