Biography

Jean-Philippe Vine, also credited as JP Vine or J.P. Vine, is an animation director and writer. He began his career as a theatre set designer and modelmaker before joining Aardman Animations in the UK, where he worked on Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005) and directed episodes of the Emmy award-winning series Shaun the Sheep (2007).

Vine later joined Pixar, contributing as a story artist on Inside Out (2015) and The Good Dinosaur (2015), and as a storyboard artist on Cars 3 (2017). He co-directed the feature Ron’s Gone Wrong (2021), Locksmith Animation’s debut film. His short film Cardboard (2025), which he wrote and directed, premiered at the Annecy Festival and was shortlisted for the Academy Award for Best Animated Short.
