Biography
Jean Topart (also credited as Jean Pierre Camille Henri Topart) was a French actor and voice actor. He was born in Paris on 13 April 1922 and died in Le Port-Marly, Yvelines, on 29 December 2012. He trained in medicine before turning to the theatre and was a member of the Théâtre national populaire (TNP) troupe under Jean Vilar from 1950 to 1960.
Topart was best known for his distinctive voice work in animation, narration and dubbing. He voiced Master Sinh in the 1973 animated film Fantastic Planet, Zeus in the 1981 series Ulysses 31, and provided narration for The Mysterious Cities of Gold (1982) and the 2000 series Argai: The Prophecy. He also dubbed numerous foreign films into French, including The Elephant Man (1980), Birdy (1984) and Amadeus (1984).
His live-action credits include roles in Angelique (1964) as Maître Bourié, Cold Sweat (1970) as Katanga, and Cop au Vin (1985) as Docteur Philippe Morasseau. He appeared as a filmmaker in the style of Jean-Pierre Melville in the 2000 film Actors.
