Biography
Jennifer Gibney is an Irish actress born on 7 July 1964 in Dublin. She is best known for playing Cathy Brown in the BBC sitcom Mrs. Brown's Boys (2011–present) and its adaptations, including the 2014 film Mrs. Brown's Boys D'Movie and the 2022 film Tyler Perry's A Madea Homecoming. She began the role in earlier stage and original series versions of the show created by her husband, Brendan O'Carroll, whom she married in 2005.
Gibney's earlier screen credits include a minor part in the 1996 film Some Mother's Son and appearances in Agnes Browne (1999) and the television series Prosperity (2007). She trained at the Dublin Oscar Theatre School after working in the Irish civil service and at the Bank of Ireland. In 2014 she competed as a contestant on the twelfth series of Strictly Come Dancing.
