Biography
Jeremy Leven (born 16 August 1941) is an American screenwriter, director, producer and novelist.
Born in South Bend, Indiana, he was educated at St. John's College in Annapolis, Maryland, Harvard University, the University of Connecticut and Yale University Medical School. While at Harvard he founded the satirical revue The Proposition, which ran for ten years in Cambridge, Massachusetts and off-Broadway.
Leven wrote the screenplays for Don Juan DeMarco (1994), which he also directed, The Legend of Bagger Vance (2000), Alex & Emma (2003) and The Notebook (2004). He also wrote the story for Real Steel (2011) and the screenplay for My Sister's Keeper (2009). His novels include Creator (1980), adapted as a film in 1985, and Satan: His Psychotherapy and Cure by the Unfortunate Dr. Kassler, J.S.P.S. (1982), filmed as Crazy as Hell (2002).
