Biography

Jeremy Sams is a British composer, theatre director, lyricist and translator. Born on 12 January 1957 in London, he is the son of musicologist Eric Sams. He studied music, French and German at Magdalene College, Cambridge, and piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Sams composed the score for the 1995 BBC film adaptation of Jane Austen's Persuasion, winning a BAFTA for Best Original Music. His other film scores include The Mother (2003), Enduring Love (2004), Hyde Park on Hudson (2012) and Le Week-End (2013). He has composed, arranged and directed music for numerous theatre productions and translated several opera libretti.
